Technology: Blood Draw Analysis
Test description
The Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) Panel from Immunosciences Lab is a blood draw test that measures the levels of antibodies from EBV. EBV may play a significant role in contributing towards inflammation and autoimmune disorders; high levels of antibodies may suggest autoimmune reactivity which, if not addressed, can eventually lead to the development of autoimmune disease.
EBV infection can play a role in the pathogenesis of many systemic autoimmune conditions, such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease and many more. This is due to molecular mimicry between EBV antigens and human tissue proteins.
This mimicry occurs when antibodies produced against viral antigens also attack the body’s own tissues. It is thought that subsequent viral infections further aggravate the disease by activating the immune response against viral and self-antigens.
This test is recommended for those who are genetically predisposed to autoimmune disease, or who have a history of exposure to environmental risk factors (such as infections from EBV).
This test requires a blood sample via a blood draw procedure, which must be performed by a doctor or phlebotomist. To book a blood draw, please see ‘Find a blood draw’ at regeneruslabs.com. or contact your GP Provider.
Your sample is sent to Regenerus UK for processing and then forwarded to Immunosciences Lab in the USA for analysis.
Disclaimer: This test is only available through a Healthpath Pro practitioner (Tamara @breathe360).
